Yes, another background to the background. This time from the Grey Knights point of view. Of how the Grey Knights get some visitors to share their ship.....

Again any comments would be appreciated.

The engines of the ThunderHawks screamed as the ships plummeted through the planets thin atmosphere. Once the six ships made to the desired altitude above the planets surface they leveled out and headed west above what were once vast tundra, what was there now was a blasted wasteland, littered with the huge skeletons of the beasts that roamed the area. The whole land was drained of its life essence by the spawn that now roamed the planet, feeding on anything that the smallest amount of energy in it. No life form was too small to drain of its essence, all of it was food, nourishment.
The Thunderhawks followed the line of destruction that was thousands of kilometers long. Hammering along so they could get in front of the warpspawn that was dooming the planet to its agonizing death.
Finally the chaos was spotted. The Thunderhawks pushed forward and swung around so that their cargo could unload straight into the fray. These soldiers would not hesitate in the face of their foe, no matter how horrific they may seem. Their faith in their Emperor could not falter. As the Thunderhawks were coming down, making sure the earth could support their massive weight, final prayers were muttered, praise to the Emperor was sung, storm-bolters were checked and loaded, psycanons were ignited and bought up to full charge.
As the loading dock doors of the ‘Hawks yawed open, the marines were already picking out their targets, plotting routes to the enemy. The doors had not even fully opened, not even felt the touch of the dying grass before the feet of the Grey Knights were running to engage with their bitterest foe. What they faced on the field of battle today was what they had always been training to fight against.
Storm-bolters barked out their version highly controlled death. The purgation squads that wielded the heavier psycanons stayed back slightly, aiming for the larger enemies.
The storm bolter wielding Grey Knights soon ceased their firing and took hold of their halberds in both hands and started to chop their way through anything that stood in their way. The holy wards impregnated in the armour of the knights glowed brilliantly as they shielded the wearer of the armour from all the raw psychic energy thrown about.

For four days the fighting continued with no respite for either side. Until slowly, so very slowly the Grey Knights gained the upper hand. Grand Master Ryhan was bone weary himself. He had pulled out as many of his knights could at various points of the battle, to allow them some respite. Those who were pulled out could not reload their weapons, for the spare ammunition had run out three days before hand. So now every inch was to be fought for by hand.
The Grey Knights encircled the spawn of the warp in an ever decreasing circle until only the largest of the creatures has survived. The nemisis weapons that were carried by the creature was aggravating it, making it made through little stings and cuts. The creature was well over three times the height of the tallest warrior that fought it. Its hind legs were short and stubby, much like a gorilla, so it carried a lot of its weight on its front…appendages. With one lunge and sweep of its left paw it sent fifteen marines flying through the air. Most of who didn’t stand up again when they landed.
Ryhan struggled to pull himself through the melee so he was in front of the beast and started the prayer that would grant him the power commonly known as “Hammerhandâ€

Ryhan was held in stasis in the medical centre of the cruiser for an unknown period of time before he awoke. His senses telling him he was in no immediate threat, so he laid there gathering his mind, and drew an experimental deep breath and felt a pain lunge through his entire left side making him contort slightly in the pain.
A servo skull, detecting the movement, came up to him and beeped and whistled a few things before it scooted off to another errand. As Ryhan struggled to sit up on the table he was on, the chief medic came trundling up on artificial mutli-jointed legs. While helping Ryhan to sit up the medic said, “Easy now, Grand Master, you took quite a bite there.â€
